Mission
Statement The
City of Dyersburg through the combined efforts
of its many departments seeks to enhance the quality of life and protect the citizens
of Dyersburg by providing professional and progressive
Emergency Management Services in the event of a catastrophic incident within the
City of Dyersburg. While
providing these services, we are committed to personnel safety by promoting and
supporting the force that makes this task successful. Dyersburg
Office of Emergency Management will provide citywide emergency management program
leadership, continuity, and direction to enable the City of Dyersburg and its
partners to respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impact of natural, manmade,
or technological disasters upon its people or property. About
Dyersburg Emergency Management Agency The
Board of Mayor and Aldermen established the Dyersburg Office of Emergency Management
on October 29, 2002 to improve the direction and control of local emergency preparations,
response and recovery activities and to ensure that the needs of all the citizens
of Dyersburg are met in the event of a local emergency. The
department coordinates the preparedness, planning, training and recovery activities
of all City departments. Additionally, it serves as a liaison with other municipalities,
state and federal agencies, and the private sector; and performs related public
education and community preparedness activities. Statement
from the Manager One
of the foremost responsibilities of leaders, at all levels, is to establish a
Vision for their organization, to paint a picture of what success looks like.
This is vitally important in times of great change, like now. I
am committed to ensuring that Dyersburg Office of Emergency Management for
the City of Dyersburg is poised and ready to perform the missions that await us
in the 21st century. Dyersburg
OEM's job is to lead the City in developing and maintaining a citywide emergency
management system that helps people protect themselves, their families, homes
and businesses from all hazards. More specifically, Dyersburg EMA:
- Builds
preparedness by ensuring adequate plans are in place for the continuation of essential
government functions during any emergency. A serious disruption of government
services could severely hinder emergency management assistance to the people.
- Coordinates
the local response when disasters exceed our capabilities, and assists communities
to recover.
In
all of its activities, Dyersburg OEM works in close consultation with partners
in Federal, State and local governments, business and industry, the American Red
Cross and other volunteer and non-profit organizations. Rusty Hilliard , Manager Dyersburg Office of Emergency Management
