DFD "Awards" Program

This program was implemented in 2008. The program focuses on the Firefighters certification process. The department utilizes cloth ribbons mounted on slide bars, which are pinned to the Class A uniforms right chest. These ribbons are color coded and represent different aspects of each employee’s personnel status (longevity, rank, certifications, ECT…). There are special awards that are also part of the program ( i. e. Metal of Honor, Metal of Valor, Firefighter of the year, ECT…).

An awards committee is in charged of all criteria for this program. Committee members responsible for the development of this program include: R. Fowlkes, P. Braithwaite, J. Burk head, K. Woods, S. Hollis, A. Dunevant, E. McLean, J. Leake, B. Stanley, M. Carman.
