After the terrorists attacks in 2001 three of Dyersburg’s Firemen traveled to the City of New York to attend ceremonies for the fallen fighters there. Upon their return, while listening to the incredible stories they told of bravery and honor. Chief B. Veal started implementing ideas and asking for volunteers to show honor to America and our people. At that point many hours of training and preparation under the guidance of Capt. K. Burns was under way. Since then the Fire Department has had the honor of attending parades, memorials, ceremonies and standing in honor at funerals of our comrades and their families.
Comprised of approximately fifteen members who volunteer to meet and drill on their own time. These members serve with great pride and dignity in all weather conditions. It is an honor to see them march and present the colors with such pride.
