the Fire Department
Administration
and Investigation
Captain
Rusty Hilliard

Captain Hilliard assists
the Fire Chief, Battalion Chiefs, office personnel, and all
firefighters with their duties concerning office operations,
budgeting and purchasing of equipment , maintenance of equipment,
and planning for the future direction that the department
should undertake to maintain a proactive stance for the City
of Dyersburg.
The Fire department investigates
all fires for cause determination. The Fire Chief, Captain
Hilliard and/or the Incident Commander gather the appropriate
information to conduct said investigation. If a fire is determined
to be of suspicious nature, the Fire Chief enlists the aid
of the Dyersburg Police Department and the State Fire Marshalls
Office. In the event of a building fire the Dyersburg Building
and Codes Department will make structural inspections before
the building may be further occupied. If the structure is
determined to be unsafe by the building official or his representative,
proper permits must be obtained from the Building and Codes
Department prior to repairs or razing of the building.
