Department
Overview Our motto: "We
exist to serve the community" can be seen in our daily work. The men and
women of the DPD go far beyond simply providing traditional law enforcement services.
The Dyersburg Police
Department is staffed with 61 men and women who serve as commissioned
officers.

An additional
staff of 9 civilians provide support services such as records
clerks, division office managers
and secretaries.
The
service area is approximately 16 square miles with a resident population of about
18,500.
The
Dyersburg Police Department has been recognized as a regional
leader and as a national model for small departments. The
City of Dyersburg, under the guidance of the department, was the first city under
500,000 to become a Weed-N-Seed community.
The department also was accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for
Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in March of 2000. |
