About the Mayor

John Holden, Mayor

John Holden is serving his second four (4) year term as Mayor of the City of Dyersburg. Mayor Holden was sworn in on January 3rd, 2011 following his re-election on November 2nd, 2010.

Mayor Holden is a 1978 graduate of Dyersburg High School. He attended Dyersburg State Community College, transferred to U.T. Knoxville and graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1983. He was elected in 1994 to the Dyer County Legislative Body and served for a total of 12 years, including 3 years as Budget Committee Chairman and 7 years as Education Committee Chairman. Mayor Holden is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, a member and past President of the Dyersburg Noon Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, past President of the YMCA of Dyer County and the Dyersburg State Community College Alumni Association. His wife Amy, teaches at Dyersburg Middle School and they have two children, ages 10 and 9. They are active members of First Baptist Church, Dyersburg.
