Community Service Programs

The Dyersburg Police Department offers several programs to the community to help citizens stay informed and safe within their neighborhoods. Officers devote their time to make a difference in the community that they serve and protect.

Law Enforcement Day
The department is host to the Chamber of Commerce Adult and Youth Leadership Days. Participants are given an overview of the department’s different divisions and go away with a better understanding of what the department does for the community in it’s endeavor to provide a safe community for all citizens. There is hands on training to enhance the day long session.

Citizen Police Academy
Citizens are chosen by application to attend a six week class that includes hands on training and classroom presentations from various divisions within the department. Graduates from the program are permitted to participate in the ride along program with the Uniform Patrol Division.

Neighborhood Watch
Citizens that want to establish a Neighborhood Watch in their area are given crime prevention tips and materials through presentations from volunteer officers. Follow up meetings are held to assist the group in maintaining it’s success.
